From a sunrise walk to awesome bird sightings to monkeys to cave temples to a fabric exporter, and finishing it off with a village visit– day thirteen was a good one. After an amazing night and a good night's rest, a group of us decided to walk into town just after sunrise. After breakfast, we said goodbye to our lovely hotel staff and took a quick drive to a temple at the very top of the mountain we were staying on. There was a small alter in a cave where we gave our respects, then took a look at the view from the top. We loaded back into our bus and started our way down the mountain. Back down all the hair pin bends, knowing that if we were to go off the cliff, that would be the end of us. I decided to nap but woke up intermittently to the excited squeals of my peers, pointing at the monkeys along the side of the road. Our next visit was to a dyeing facility. We were able to look at the different colors of dye they mix, how they rewind the yarn onto cones with holes that allow for the dye to penetrate through the spool best, and take a look at the machines they use to actually dye and dry the yarns. Our next stop was at Shri Murugan Export. Here we saw quality checking of fabric off to export. We went to another operation where they weaving machines were producing more fabric. We ended our day with a visit to a village that United Dry Goods "adopted". They built a factory and training facility in the village so that people could remain near their homes while working. The children of the village welcomed us with beautiful and fun dance routines, we were served fresh coconuts, and then had a chance to walk around the property. The children were so fun and cute and eager to talk to us. I wish we had more time here!
