If you know me, you know I love dogs. Like high-key obsessed. I will basically accept your dog as my own, without waiting for you to give me any sort of blessing. I never had a dog growing up, but dogsat for all my neighbors and honestly if we ever hung out and your dog was there, I definitely cared WAAAAY more about the dog. After all my dog birthday party ideas for Rowan, the dog this cake was inspired by, were shot down, I felt pretty defeated UNTIL inspiration struck. I ended up making a cake for her human modeled after Rowan, whose birthday was a week following hers.
I used my favorite chocolate cake recipe, which happens to be gluten and dairy free. However, I then made a cookies and cream buttercream icing…thus introducing both gluten (Oreo cookies) and dairy (butter and heavy cream) to the cake. Oreos themselves are vegan. So anyway, this cake wasn't helpful for most dietary restrictions, but that was totally fine for the recipient.
And to clarify for anyone who may be confused, this is a cake for a human, inspired by a dog. Dogs can't eat chocolate, I got it, I know, please don't feed this cake to your dog. |
